Open Community Schools in Quispicanchi

Open Community Schools in Quispicanchi

Dispurse promotes Open Community Schools (ECA) in the province of Quispicanchi, Cusco, in response to the educational need of more than 5 million people over the age of 15 with incomplete basic education, mainly in rural areas of Peru, according to the 2017 Census. These ECAs are conceived as flexible and diversified spaces that value the community's prior knowledge and culture.

ECAs operate under a community vision, fostering collaboration between the population and local organizations to promote learning. Recognizing the knowledge acquired throughout life, they seek validation and official certification.

This network of learning scenarios is strategically deployed in the community, offering varied opportunities for the development of competencies in young people and adults with no or incomplete basic education. Dispurse's FOCUS methodology, focused on basic, functional, digital and critical literacy, is essential for establishing a solid foundation for learners.

Looking ahead to 2024, the focus is on certifying and validating the learning of the Andahuaylillas Municipal Community School, in addition to implementing a new ECA in the district of Huaro, supported by municipal management. This step seeks to enhance educational opportunities for young people and adults in rural areas of Peru, contributing to sustainable development and the well-being of the communities.
